St Johns, Johnsonville and Holy Trinity, Ohariu
On Sunday 28 July, our new vicar, Rev Ben Johnson-Frow, was inducted to our parish.
An estimated 250 people turned up to the induction service, which was presided over by Bishop Justin. Ben was presented to the Johnsonville Parish by members of his former parish of Karori. He was presented with symbols of his ministry by members of the Johnsonville Parish. Father Stephen King from St Barnabas Hataitai, delivered the sermon.
After issuing Ben with his license, Bishop Justin showed him to his chair. This was greeted with loud applause and cheering from the congregation. Representatives from the community welcomed Ben to his new role, including Ohariu-Belmont MP, Peter Dunne. Fr Peter Fitzgibbon from St Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church expressed his hope that both churches would have more opportunities to share activities together. Ben led the congregation in singing ‘10,000 reasons’ with instrumental support from friends and parish musicians. The service closed with a rousing rendition of “Guide me O thou Great Redeemer’.
