St Johns, Johnsonville and Holy Trinity, Ohariu
‘Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you,’ says the Lord. ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.’
Great and loving God,
your will for us in your Son Jesus
is the peace which the world cannot give,
your abiding gift, the Advocate he promised.
Calm all troubled hearts,
dispel every fear,
and keep us steadfast in love and faithful to your word.
Grant this through Jesus Christ, the firstborn from the dead,
who lives with you now and always in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever. Amen
This Thursday is Ascension Day, leading us into the closing stages of the Easter Season, which ends with Pentecost on 19 May. At Ascension Jesus returns to God and he passes the baton to us, his disciples, as we become his body on Earth. The Eucharist on Thursday morning will be a special liturgy celebrating this event. If you aren’t a regular attendee at the Thursday 10am service you might consider attending this week as we celebrate this significant event.
Jesus said, “I am with you always, to the end of the world.”
