Exploring Prayer

This Wednesday, 20 March at 7.30pm, meeting in the church. The topic is Prayer of Gratitude.

Copies of Sunday morning sermons are available at the back of the church and on the website. Click on the Sermons link from the main menu on the left to see them.

Morning prayer

Alister says this Daily Service in the Church at 9.00am (about 20 minutes long) every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday—and anyone is most welcome to join him. On Thursdays at 8.45am he joins with the clergy of Newlands-Paparangi, Churton Park and Onslow for Morning Prayer.

Vestry commissioning

Vestry members will be commissioned this Sunday at the 8.30am and 10.00am services.

Easter flyers

We were very pleased with the success we had passing out flyers at Christmas advertising our service times, and we have decided to try to do the same for Easter. There are flyers at the back of the church, and a list of routes to distribute them on. If you’d like a bit of exercise, please choose a route, take the route description and the number of flyers necessary, and mark off the route on our list of routes.

Name tags

Please help Alister to learn all our names by wearing your name tag. If you don’t have a name tag, there is a clipboard at the back of the church where you can put your name (as you would like it printed) and we will make sure there is one made for you.

Police checks

..need to be completed by Vestry members, trustees, anyone working with the elderly, youth and children, and anyone performing
pastoral ministry. The form with an explanatory memo is at the back of the church. Please return the completed form to the parish office or give it to Alister.

First Aid courses

We setting up opportunities for first aid training for parish members. We want to make sure there are enough people trained to provide support when it is needed. It is also a requirement for any activities involving children and young people. If you are interested in taking part in the training, please contact David Earle (ph 478 0678).

We are also looking into a short CPR training course. More on this soon.

This Good Friday, CBA will broadcast for 12 hours on NewstalkZB and the Radio Sport network. CBA’s programmes are designed to communicate the Christian faith to those who have never understood. They have asked for help to cover production costs. There are envelopes for making donations at the back of the church, or phone 0900 80 222 to make a $20 donation (charged to your bank account). Visit for more information.

Furniture for Tonga

There will be another trip to Tonga to help at St Andrew’s school. One of the volunteer groups last year refurbished a house owned by the school. The house is being kept to accommodate volunteers who go to Tonga to work in, or at, the school, but at the moment it is bare. We are looking for some furniture to put in it: lounge suite; 2 easy chairs; queen-size bed and mattress; small kitchen table and maybe two chairs; freestanding wardrobes and chests of drawers; coffee table; saucepans (decent ones are very hard to come by in Tonga. We would also be grateful for anything else you care to donate. We have a container going to Tonga, which we will be filling from the middle of April to the end of April. We can store offerings in the meantime. You can contact Maurice Dagger or 478-3620. We can pick up.

Movie fundraiser

St Michael’s is having a movie night fundraiser on Sunday, 17 March at 7.00pm at Petone Lighthouse. The movie is Great Expectations. Cost is $20 per ticket. Contact Sue Corbett. 478-0417.

Anglican Missions Lenten Appeal

Envelopes for the Anglican Missions Lenten Appeal 2013 are at the back of the church. Please consider donating. You can leave the envelope in the Sunday offering, or you can donate online at
