Readings and prayers 24 February 2013

One thing I have asked of the Lord,
which I long for, that I may dwell in
the house of the Lord all the days of
my life, to gaze on your beauty O
Lord and to seek you in your temple.
Psalm 27:4, 5

God of life and glory,
your Son was revealed in splendour
before he suffered death upon the
grant that we, beholding his majesty,
may be strengthened to follow him
and be changed into his likeness
from glory to glory;
for he lives and reigns with you and
the Holy Spirit,
one God now and for ever. Amen

Family Learning Activity

In the gospel we hear about how the disciples experience Jesus as a light to the world – what does this mean for us?

Family Learning Activity February 24 2013 (pdf)

Today we pray for:

  • the Parish of Karori
  •  The Most Revd. Dr Valentino Mokiwa, Archbishop of Tanzania, and the bishops and clergy of the 19 Dioceses of the Church of Tanzania
  • children and staff at Onslow College and West Park Primary School
  • those attending Passionfest at Ngatiawa this weekend
  • those who have asked for our prayers and those who have died
  • ourselves: that this Lent may be a time of growth and change as we draw closer to Christ. “May our reverence for old wood and our eagerness for new seasons, enrich this present time of growth and find their rightful place in the greenness of now.”
  • the people of Christchurch.
