Today is the third Sunday in Advent. Advent is the time we prepare for Jesus at Christmas time. Today we light the candle for joy, which reminds us of how Jesus brings joy to our lives.
What is something you really enjoy doing? Who do you enjoy doing it with?
We can find joy in the simplest things, such as taking time to look at a flower, walking on the beach or even giving someone a hug. When we find that joy we step a little closer to God. Can you think of some simple things that give you a sense of joy?
Joy needs to be shared. Sharing also brings joy. In today’s Gospel reading, John the Baptist preaches about the importance of sharing: “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.” (Luke 3:11).
What are some ways you can share joy with others this Christmas?
